P.S. 159 Instructional Focus | 2026–2027: Building Strong Readers, Deep Thinkers, and Confident Problem Solvers
At P.S. 159, we are focused on helping every student become a confident reader, thinker, and problem solver.
In literacy, students will build strong vocabulary and word knowledge while learning to think deeply about increasingly challenging texts, discuss their ideas, and use evidence to support their understanding.
In mathematics, students will develop a deeper understanding of math by making sense of problems, explaining their thinking, learning from the strategies of others, and developing strong problem-solving skills.
Across all classrooms, teachers will use student work and learning data to provide the right level of challenge and support so that every student can grow and succeed.
